John (3) Wilder

* Born: 1547, Shiplake, Oxfordshire, , England
* Marriage: Alice Keats , , , England
* Died: 1588, Oxfordshire, England

Gave by deed of entail 'Sulham House' of which his wife was heir to Wm their 3rd son, probably as part of an arrangement by which Thomas the 4th son was to become proprietor of the entailed estate.

By the will of John made in October 1588 and proved by his widow Alice, his exectutor the following November, John and Thomas were both provided for and a deed of conveyance was also made to them.

John (Richard) Wilder II ,111, of Nunhide, son of John Wilder 1, see page 2-4, and Agnes, (surname unknown), in 1582 John gave by deed of entail the Sulham House, of which his wife, Alice Keats, was heir, to William Wilder, their third son, probably as a part of an arrangement by which Thomas, the fourth son, was to become the proprietor of the entailed estate.
By the will of John Wilder, made in October, 1588, and proved by his widow Alice Keats Wilder, his executor, the following November, John and Thomas were both provided for, and a deed of conveyance was also made to Thomas. We do not know by what power the third son could be made heir instead of the eldest, yet it was done in this case, and the family residence, Shiplake, which was not a part of the entailed estate, was probably conveyed by deed to Thomas, and thus made to continue as the family residence. LDS shows his birth as 1544, his death as 1588 and marriage date as 1590.
According to Rev. Wilder, Alice's father, Thomas Keats, Esq. built Sulham House and Alice inherited it from him. He also says that John Jr. gave Sulham House to his third son in 1582 and willed the estate to his fourth son, as though title to the mansion was separate from that of the land for a time. Near Sulham House stands an Episcopal Church built by the Wilders, where members of the family worship and where the successive inheritors of the estate are buried. Most of the rectors have been Wilders, John Jr. and Alice had four sons and three daughters, The last two daughters were taken from the account of Rev. Moses H. Wilder.
